Dubai: The Desert Vipers have added Pakistan batter Hassan Nawaz to their squad for the upcoming DP World ILT20 Season 5. The 23-year-old replaces England’s Aneurin Donald, who has been called up by England to play in the T20I series against Australia in November and December. Nawaz previously helped the Vipers secure the Season 4 title and is set to return to the team after his successful performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL) this year.
He scored 291 runs at a strike rate of 134.1 in the PSL and added 220 runs for Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the CPL, where he was the joint top-scorer. Nawaz is known for his strong batting performances across various positions and his fielding abilities, having taken 12 catches in the Vipers' successful season. The Vipers kick off their title defense against MI Emirates at the Dubai International Stadium on November 21, continuing their rivalry from last season's final. The fifth edition of the DP World ILT20 tournament runs until December 20.
