An art exhibition, handmade jewellery, dancing and special animal guests brought together locals, creatives and volunteers for a good cause in El Soto last Saturday, October 10. The mini-event raised over €1,700 for two animal charities, ACE|SHIN (Animal Care España|Spaanse Honden In Nood) and Donkey Dreamland. ACE|SHIN, founded in 1999, provides shelter and veterinary care for abandoned, neglected or mistreated dogs and cats in southern Spain.
Donkey Dreamland, the other beneficiary, cares for donkeys and other animals in need. Five artists contributed to the exhibition, with Roxanne and Lesley Lawrence leading the effort. Visitors could browse handmade jewellery, macramé and browse golf balls donated by Gabriela Cervantes and Angelique Roelse-Vis. Two Irish students, Ksenija and Anna, helped sell books and golf balls throughout the day.
Dance lessons were offered by Marisa and Niko in the afternoon. The charities received €881.25 each, with an additional €189 raised through donations and sales of charity cards and calendars. Organisers expressed gratitude to all who contributed, emphasizing the community spirit that made the event possible.
