Any window from your Mac, on your iPhone and iPad

Sill enables projecting a window or entire desktop from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad, allowing interaction via touch, a trackpad, keyboard, or Apple Pencil. The software captures the window, encodes it as HEVC video, and transmits it to your device. Communication occurs between the Mac and device on the same network via USB, a direct wireless connection, or through an encrypted connection using a VPN.

No account or server is required; the apps are free, open-source, and do not play sound. Sill for Mac and iPhone/iPad share the same version number for each release. With Sill for Mac 0.4.0 and later, only devices paired with the Mac can connect, but this can be changed to allow any device on the network to connect. The software is free with no ads, no tracking, and no subscription.

Parsing 12' 6" and 2.4 m: measurement input that doesn't annoy people

Most online calculators give you a number box and a unit dropdown. Then someone measures their patio with a tape, gets 12 feet 6 inches , and has to work out that that's 12.5 before they can type…

  • Converts inputs to consistent values, e.g., 12.5 feet, 7.874 feet, 15.5 feet
  • Rejects invalid inputs with clear error messages, e.g., "That looks like an area"
