Anthony Rizzo says what every Mets fan is feeling right now
It's unbelievable, honestly.
Former Chicago Cubs legend and New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo recently expressed the sentiments of countless Mets fans. Rizzo commented, “It’s crazy, right? How mad are you as a Mets fan to see the guy that you guys traded for from Milwaukee, right, and this isn’t a stray to the Mets organization, sometimes guys just don’t adapt right away.”
The recent struggles of the New York Mets over the past few seasons can be attributed to players failing to deliver at the level expected. This became glaringly apparent during the 2026 season, particularly with right-hander Freddy Peralta. Peralta, who had been an All-Star and near-Cy Young contender with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025, posted a 4.99 ERA for the Mets, his worst since 2019.
However, Peralta has since returned to form with the Tampa Bay Rays, posting a 3.25 ERA and leading the postseason with a 0.84 ERA across two starts. Rizzo's remarks highlight the disappointment felt by Mets fans as they watch a player they acquired from another team struggle, ultimately being traded at the deadline.
