Analogue is reviving its Mega SG and Super Nt consoles, and they'll play all your old Sega and Nintendo cartridges with some modern enhancements

Analogue, the company behind retro-focused game consoles, has unveiled upgraded versions of its Mega Sg and Super Nt consoles, the Mega SG+ and Super Nt+, respectively. These enhanced machines promise to bring classic Sega and Nintendo cartridges back to life with modern upgrades. Prior to these revisions, Analogue released the Super Nt in 2018 and the Mega Sg a year later.

Both the upcoming Mega SG+ and Super Nt+ boast proprietary, in-house-designed FPGA chips, the result of over a decade of development. These chips offer purpose-built 1080p resolution for 2D gaming, eliminating lag and ensuring total accuracy. The company claims a 100 percent compatibility rate with their respective libraries: the Mega SG+ supports 2,180+ Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mycard Adapter, and Mark III/SG1000 game cartridges, while the Super Nt+ is compatible with over 2,200 Super Nintendo and Super Famicom games.

In terms of connectivity, both consoles support wireless controllers through Bluetooth and 2.4GHz technology. Players can also hot-swap cartridges without having to power down the console, simply needing to quit their current game and replace the cartridge. Additionally, the consoles can be powered on and off using a controller, with a USB-C power supply and cable included in the box.

Pre-orders for these upgraded consoles open on October 19th via the Analogue website, with shipping expected to begin in December. The Mega SG+ will be available in three variants - Japan, EU, and US - at a price of $219.99, while the Super Nt+ comes in Classic, SF, and Black options, also at $219.99 each.
