Zendaya to Star in Alex Garland Sci-Fi Film at A24

Zendaya, the talented actress behind hits such as "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," has announced her next venture - an untitled sci-fi film under A24's banner, directed by acclaimed writer/director Alex Garland. Scheduled to begin filming in 2027, this collaboration marks yet another successful partnership for Zendaya and A24, following their 2026 hit "The Drama" and three seasons of the critically acclaimed HBO drama "Euphoria."

Like Garland, A24 will also be embroiled in other projects; 2025's "Warfare," 2024's "Civil War," 2022's "Men," and 2024's "Ex Machina." Garland, meanwhile, is currently in post-production on his adaptation of the popular video game "Elden Ring," set for release on March 3, 2028, starring Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Nick Offerman, Tom Burke, Ruby Cruz, and Garland regular Sonoya Mizuno.

Beyond his work with A24, the filmmaker recently penned the "28 Years Later" movies for Sony, directed by Danny Boyle and Nia DaCosta, respectively, with a third film currently on hold due to Garland's demanding schedule. Zendaya's workload is no less impressive; she will be seen in "Dune: Part Three" on December 18, following her roles in Marvel Studios' record-breaking "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," and Universal's "The Odyssey," which topped the charts in 2023 with $2.51 billion and $1.78 billion worldwide, respectively.
