Why Tennessee Titans coach Robert Saleh believes adversity as assistant can lead to wins
Tennessee Titans coach Robert Saleh has seen impressive turnarounds as an assistant. As coach, it's been a different story.
Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons maintains faith in coach Robert Saleh despite the team's 0-5 start to the 2023 season. Simmons emphasizes the importance of the locker room in upholding Saleh's message and believes players must take responsibility for their own success. Saleh's background in coaching struggling teams, such as the 2017 San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, can prove advantageous for the Titans' turnaround efforts.
The 49ers went from an 0-9 start to a Super Bowl appearance, while the Seahawks transformed their defense from one of the worst in the league to one of the best. However, Saleh's coaching record with the New York Jets, where he went 20-36 over two seasons, raises doubts about his ability to replicate success. Despite this, the Titans' players appreciate Saleh's consistency and buy into his approach.
