Qatar to participate in 4th Al Diwan Arabic Book Fair in Berlin

The State of Qatar, through the Ministry of Culture, will take part in the fourth edition of the Al Diwan Arabic Book Fair, scheduled to take place in Berlin from October 16-18. Over 110 publishers from the Arab World and Germany will attend the event, which will showcase a wide array of Arabic publications and engage in a multifaceted cultural program.

This program will provide opportunities for interaction and dialogue among authors, translators, publishers, researchers, and readers from the Arab world and Germany. The fair's agenda includes discussions, seminars, and literary gatherings covering topics such as translation between Arabic and German, the role of book fairs in cultural exchange, the Arabic novel in the Gulf region, the function of cultural institutions in fostering dialogue and mutual understanding, digital literature, contemporary publishing, and highlights of Qatari cultural and maritime heritage.

A notable highlight will be a discussion with Saudi novelist Abdo Khal, a recipient of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction, who will share insights on his literary journey and the Saudi novel's role in the Arab cultural landscape. The fair will conclude its series, "Treasures of Knowledge: A Dialogue with Arabic Manuscripts," organized in collaboration with the Berlin State Library.

The series will include a special event focusing on Arabic manuscripts and their creative, knowledge, and story-bearing aspects. The program will also feature the presentation of the Al Riwaq Prize for Science and Culture, organized by Al Diwan and the Orient-Institut Beirut, which recognizes outstanding scholarly and cultural contributions, aligning with Al Diwan's dedication to fostering knowledge, research, and culture in the Arab world.
