McKibbin one off lead with McIlroy in contention
Tom McKibbin is one shot off the lead and Rory McIlroy three further back after a weather-disrupted opening day of the DP World India Championship.
Rory McIlroy and Tom McKibbin topped the leaderboard after the first round of the DP World India Championship in New Delhi, India. Denmark's Niklas Norgaard led on six under par after a six-under-par round of 66, which included an eagle, six birdies, and two bogeys. McKibbin, a Northern Ireland player, was one shot behind Norgaard with a score of -5, while McIlroy trailed further behind at -4.
The tournament was disrupted by lightning that suspended play for five hours, preventing some players from completing their first 18 holes. McKibbin finished his round with six birdies and one bogey, while McIlroy posted a score of -4. Both McKibbin and McIlroy have had successful careers, with McKibbin's previous win in the European Open in 2023 and McIlroy being the back-to-back Masters champion.
