MacPaw Launches Eney AI Assistant for Mac and iPhone: Price and Features

MacPaw has unveiled Eney, a new proactive AI assistant designed to operate across Mac and iPhone platforms. This innovation emerged after years of development beginning in 2019, evolving in response to advancements in AI technology. Eney was initially envisioned as a tool to streamline MacPaw's CleanMyMac through natural language commands, but it has since transformed along with the AI landscape, incorporating local and cloud-based models to handle increasingly complex tasks that once required larger cloud-based systems.

Eney stands out by being specifically designed for the Mac, able to comprehend the context of the machine, including the applications being used, files on the device, and the user's calendar. It proactively identifies issues before they become problematic, presenting suggested actions for approval. For instance, it can prepare for an upcoming meeting or summarize a call without the need for switching between multiple applications.

The Eney Wand, a unique feature, allows users to activate Eney by simply pointing to text on their screen or using a shortcut, eliminating the need to copy and paste information into a separate chat window.

The assistant leverages both local and cloud-based AI models, developed in partnership with Liquid AI, to ensure optimal performance on Apple hardware without relying heavily on cloud resources. Mnemos, MacPaw's proprietary AI memory system, enables Eney to retain user-specific information and preferences, updating its knowledge graph as necessary.

This personalization extends to supporting multiple languages and integrating with existing AI archives like those from ChatGPT. Beyond its proactive features, Eney also offers basic Mac maintenance suggestions, such as warnings about low disk space and memory pressure.
