Illumina has unveiled BioInsight, a new unified software platform designed to assist scientists in analyzing multiomics datasets. The platform will be demonstrated at the upcoming ASHG meeting in Montreal. Illumina's BioInsight business unit was formed last year to tackle the challenge of analyzing large, complex datasets. According to Rami Mehio, senior vice president and general manager of BioInsight, the platform offers a single location for accessing Illumina’s software, AI tools, and curated data resources.
Among the tools available is SpliceA12, a new genomic AI model that predicts disease-relevant splice variants. SpliceA12, the successor to SpliceA1, has been cited in over 3,400 publications and is used in guidelines from ClinGen. Pre-print research shows that SpliceA12 identifies 17% more disease-relevant splice variants than other models, and improves quantification of splice site usage by 34% compared to the best alternative model.
Other features of the BioInsight platform include DRAGEN software, BaseSpace, Connected Multiomics, and a dedicated BioInsight AI lab for variant prediction and training foundation models. Users can access curated datasets for research in oncology, rare diseases, population health, and multiomics through a credits-based system, offering flexibility and the ability to explore new technologies as needed.
