HBO Max has announced the addition of Josh Hutcherson and Mackenzie Davis to its animated series "Mister Miracle," based on Tom King's comic of the same name. Hutcherson will portray the title character, Scott Free, an escape artist known as Mister Miracle, while Davis will play his fellow New God, Big Barda. DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran confirmed the casting during an interview with IGN.
It remains to be seen if Hutcherson and Davis will reprise their roles in future live-action projects. The characters of Scott Free and Big Barda were created by Jack Kirby in 1971's Mister Miracle #1 and #4 respectively. Scott, the son of Highfather, ruler of the utopian planet New Genesis, was initially taken to Apokolips by Darkseid in exchange for Darkseid's son Orion.
Later, Scott and Barda, a member of Darkseid's warrior legion known as the Female Furies, become Earth heroes and Justice League members.
