Grafana Labs has released Tempo 3.1, the first minor update to the 3.0 architecture. It adds TLS and additional SASL mechanisms to the Kafka client, lets operators redact traces with a TraceQL query instead of a list of trace IDs, and introduces an experimental query-time hint that corrects TraceQL metrics for sampled data. Bloody agents

Deploying agents turns out to be the easy part. Proving what they are worth is where projects are coming undone.

Your competitor's price is not a float

You add competitor pricing to a dashboard and start with the obvious model: SKU, competitor, price. It works for retailer pages.

  • Prices are observations, not static properties.
  • Store prices in priceobservations table with SKU, competitor SKU, channel, timestamp, fees.
  • Consider full fee stack for accurate competitive gap analysis.
