Gavin Williams fans 9 to bring Guardians within 2 wins of World Series
Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams played a crucial role in Cleveland's AL Championship Series success, striking out nine batters and leading the team to a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. This performance marked Williams' first of three straight starts with at least nine strikeouts in a postseason, making him the first Cleveland pitcher to achieve this feat.
Despite facing a disciplined Tampa Bay lineup, Williams remained effective, retiring the Rays in order during the first three innings and striking out five. The pitcher's performance was instrumental in Cleveland moving within two wins of its first World Series appearance in 10 years.
