Gambhiraopet SI attached to AR Headquarters, departmental inquiry ordered into allegations

On Thursday, October 15, Sub-inspector of police Srikanth from Gambhiraopet police station in Rajanna Sircilla district was transferred to the Armed Reserve (AR) headquarters, following allegations of assault against two Telugu publication reporters while they were in police custody, according to sources. The allegations are linked to a recently registered case at Gambhiraopet police station.

Subsequent to the allegations, senior police officials reportedly initiated a departmental inquiry to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, G. Hariprasad, president of Telangana Rakshana Sena Karimnagar district, and others visited the injured journalists at a hospital in Karimnagar on Thursday. Hariprasad strongly condemned the alleged incident and demanded severe action against those found responsible, emphasizing that any intimidation or use of force against journalists would threaten press freedom.
