Fahmi: Pakatan 95pc done with Melaka candidate talks

The candidate selection discussions for the Melaka state election under Pakatan Harapan (PH) have reached more than 95% completion, according to communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil. Fahmi, who also serves as communications minister, announced that the PH candidate announcement for the 16th Melaka state election is scheduled for October 24, with the venue to be confirmed at a later date.

In a statement to Bernama, Fahmi emphasized that the final decision on the candidate list will be made by Pakatan Harapan's Presidential Council. Earlier, it was reported that the candidate announcement and launch of PH's election machinery for the Melaka state election, scheduled for October 18, had been postponed. However, Fahmi clarified that the date change was at the request of several PH leaders in Melaka, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also PH chairman, is expected to attend the Oct 24 announcement.
