EU Eyes Starlink Alternative for Ukraine in Early 2027
The EU is discussing Ukraine’s participation in GOVSATCOM, a secure satellite communications program that could add commercial capability in early 2027. The initiative could reduce dependence on Starlink, but Brussels has not promised an equivalent replacement for its battlefield capabilities. Ukrainian forces continue to face restrictions affecting drones and other mobile terminals.
