AI is forcing professionals to rethink how they deliver value – Hubtel CEO

Hubtel CEO Alex Bram has cautioned professionals, such as lawyers, doctors, and accountants, to reconsider their methods of delivering services in the face of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence (AI). He contends that AI's increasing accessibility to specialized knowledge will challenge those whose professions have traditionally been reliant on possessing this specialized information.

Bram suggests that as AI systems can now provide information, prepare documents, and complete tasks once handled by trained professionals, simply possessing such knowledge may no longer suffice to maintain competitiveness. "Everything you learned in school, everything you stored in your mind, that's what you've hoped to profit from throughout your career. Well, here's the catch: now that information resides in a computer," he stated.

Speaking in advance of the second Digital Economy Forum, Bram urged professionals not to view AI as a threat to their livelihood but rather as an opportunity to innovate. He believes the technology will compel professionals to reevaluate their business models and leverage their expertise in novel ways to address problems. The forum, themed "AI and the Ghana Economy: Opportunity or Disruption?", will explore how AI impacts Ghana's economy, featuring speakers like Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation Minister Sam George, Economist and Technical Advisor at the Finance Ministry Dr. Theo Acheampong, AI for Ghana's founder Adam Watkins, Hubtel's Head of Engineering Augustine Adjei, and IMANI Africa's Vice President Bright Simons.

The event will air live on JoyNews and Joy 99.7 FM on October 21, 2026. Bram used the legal profession as an illustration, noting that AI tools enable clients to prepare basic agreements and access legal information independently. While AI does not render lawyers obsolete, it does alter the services clients seek. "Lawyers can now focus on reviewing documents prepared by clients, ensuring agreements comply with standards, and providing representation as needed," he explained.

Bram illustrated that the same principle holds for accountants and other information-processing professionals.
