5 things to know about Indiana

In the highly anticipated college football matchup, the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes will face off against the No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers at Indiana University's Memorial Stadium on October 10, 2026. Here are five key details about this game featuring two of the nation's top offenses.

First, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti has done an outstanding job in his debut season. Cignetti's Hoosiers have a perfect 6-0 record overall and 3-0 in conference play, including victories over Nebraska, Rutgers, and Northwestern. Cignetti's record as head coach is 33-2, with a 22-game winning streak that ended with a narrow loss to Notre Dame in the 2024 College Football Playoff.

Second, Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover has been an exceptional performer for the Hoosiers. Hoover, who was brought in via the portal, has thrown for 1,364 yards, 17 touchdowns, and zero interceptions in six games. He is relying on two of the nation's top wide receivers in Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker to catch his passes. Hoover's play has been a key factor in Indiana's strong offensive performance.

Third, defensive coordinator Terry Hoeppner's limestone boulder, known as "Hep's Rock," is a cherished football tradition at Indiana. Located behind the north end zone of Memorial Stadium, the rock was renamed in honor of Hoeppner, who passed away in 2007. The rock symbolizes the team's strength and unity, and Indiana players and coaches touch it before each home game.

Fourth, Indiana's offense is currently third in the conference in points per game (40.2), fourth in touchdowns (31), and second in total points (241). Ohio State leads the conference in all three categories, making this matchup particularly intriguing.

Lastly, both teams have impressive seasons under their belts. Indiana, the defending national champions, has yet to face a ranked opponent in conference play, while Ohio State has dominated its opponents, including a perfect season record. Fans can look forward to an exciting game with two high-powered offenses clashing on Saturday.
