Tuanku Muhriz officially proclaims Azrin Khairi as 17th undang Luak Jelebu

The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, has been extended an invitation to the upcoming Conference of Rulers meeting, set to commence tomorrow, according to a report by Singapore's Straits Times. This development is viewed as a formal acknowledgment of Tuanku Muhriz's rightful position as the ruler of Negeri Sembilan, amidst a six-month royal crisis that resulted in his cousin, Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar, being proclaimed as the new ruler.

Perak's Sultan Nazrin Shah, who will preside over the meeting from today until October 15, invited Tuanku Muhriz to attend. Despite Tunku Nadzaruddin repeatedly seeking an invitation through Negeri Sembilan's Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim, Tuanku Muhriz disclosed his intention to only participate in the pre-council meeting tomorrow.

Pre-council gatherings are not attended by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to safeguard state interests. Additionally, Tuanku Muhriz is scheduled to preside over the appointment of the new undang of Jelebu on Wednesday, an action that is expected to grant him a decisive majority in the state's royal court, the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU).

Since April, Negeri Sembilan has been grappling with a royal crisis, which began when four purported undangs announced Tuanku Muhriz's removal. The same undangs allegedly proclaimed Tunku Nadzaruddin as the new Yang Dipertuan Besar in June at a luxury hotel in Melaka. The crisis intensified in September when Ismail's executive council released a statement endorsing the removal, which the Menteri Besar endorsed despite his initial rejection of the proclamation.

Nevertheless, the Attorney-General's Chambers and the DKU affirmed that their statement held no legal weight, and Tunku Nadzaruddin remains the legitimate Yang Dipertuan Besar. This led to the cancellation of the exco's appointments, with Ismail's administration persisting without any replacements thus far.
