AKA’s bodyguard’s whereabouts during shooting under scrutiny
Seven men are standing trial for the murders of Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane
The bodyguard of rapper Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes was questioned about his location during the fatal shooting of Forbes and his friend Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane in Durban in 2023. AKA and Tibz were killed by seven men who are currently on trial for their murders. During the trial, Forbes' road manager, Siyabonga Mdluli, testified as the court's tenth witness.
Mdluli stated that he last saw the bodyguard before the shooting commenced. When he realized that Forbes had been shot, Mdluli searched for him, hoping he had run inside with the group. To his dismay, Mdluli found AKA lying dead on the ground outside. The state prosecutor then asked Mdluli about the bodyguard's whereabouts, to which he replied, "I have no idea where he was; I did not see him anywhere."
