SVI Engineering’s new bullet stopping Toyota Hilux
SVI Engineering has equipped the new Toyota Hilux with a bespoke 360-degree B6 discreet armouring package.
SVI Engineering has transformed a ninth-generation Toyota Hilux into a bulletproof vehicle. The company's new 360-degree B6 discreet armouring package is designed to protect the truck's occupants from assault rifles, including AK47, R1, and R5. Nicol Louw, SVI's Business Development Director, revealed that this is the first Toyota Hilux to feature their meticulously engineered B6 discreet armouring package.
The package includes the use of custom-fabricated armoured steel plates, composite materials, and high-grade 38mm ballistic glass. The glass is curved to OEM specification, ensuring the bakkie's appearance remains virtually unchanged. The driver's window can be lowered by around 150mm, thanks to high-durability actuators replacing the original winding system.
A suspension upgrade and uprated door hinges are also standard. Critical powertrain components are safeguarded as well. The build time for the B6 discreet package is approximately three months, while the B4 discreet package takes about three months. The B2 "SVI LITE" partial-armouring kit, which can stop 9mm, 124-grain rounds fired from a handgun, takes around two weeks to fit.
The cost of the B6 discreet package is R945,239, excluding VAT and the base vehicle's purchase price.
