Single candidacy: Opposition leaders meet Atiku, Obi others on 2027, says Lukman

National chairmen and secretaries from six opposition political parties have held consultations with their respective presidential candidates to discuss strategies for the 2027 general elections. According to a statement from Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the All Progressives Congress, these ongoing discussions are part of efforts to implement resolutions from the G-100 Opposition Summit regarding cooperation and the defense of multiparty democracy.

Punch Nigeria reports that the consulted parties include the African Democratic Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, Nigeria Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party, Peoples Democratic Party, and Peoples Redemption Party. The individuals involved in the meetings include Atiku Abubakar of the ADC, Seyi Makinde of the APM, Peter Obi of the NDC, Prince Adewole Adebayo of the SDP, and Donald Duke of the PRP.

While the consultations signal a move toward cooperation, Punch Nigeria notes that no agreement regarding a single presidential candidate has been announced.
