Miami’s Cristobal, Mensah and Toney garner AP midseason ACC awards

As the college football season progresses, Miami has emerged as the premier team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. This year marks the first time Miami has claimed the top spot in the AP poll, as they have remained undefeated throughout the season. Coach Mario Cristobal, quarterback Darian Mensah, and receiver Malachi Toney have all been recognized with awards from the AP for their contributions to Miami's success.

Cristobal, who took over as head coach before the 2022 season, has transformed Miami into a formidable force. After a near-miss in the title game last year, the Hurricanes have now gone 5-0 and are poised to secure their first ACC title and another playoff appearance. Mensah, who transferred to Miami from Duke, has quickly become one of the most productive quarterbacks in the country.

He is completing passes at an impressive 85.2% clip, throwing for 15 touchdowns, and maintaining a strong average of 10.8 yards per attempt. Toney, a dynamic freshman, has continued to excel this season, averaging 120.8 yards receiving per game and contributing significantly to Miami's dominant offense.
