Rory McIlroy's chasing his next big goal. In his way? Patrick Reed
Two years ago this Rory McIlroy-Patrick Reed showdown would have seemed impossible.
This week, Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy are both in India, competing for the DP World Tour's Season Race to Dubai title. The two have a long-standing rivalry, which includes facing each other in 2016 Ryder Cup and 2018 Masters final groups. In 2022, Reed's lawyer subpoenaed McIlroy on Christmas Eve, and their clash extended to a driving range session in Dubai in 2023.
McIlroy, currently third in the rankings, aims to surpass Colin Montgomerie's record, while Reed leads the standings. Despite their rivalry, both players have shown respect and admiration for each other throughout the season. The DP World Tour's Race to Dubai is an exciting event that brings together top players from various tours, including the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, to compete for valuable ranking points and the ultimate title.
