QC calls for stronger trade ties with Belarus

Ali Bu Sherbak Al-Mansori, Acting General Manager of Qatar Chamber, convened with Aleksei Zubko, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Belarus in Qatar. The primary agenda revolved around exploring avenues to bolster trade and economic relations between the two nations. During their meeting, Al-Mansori expressed that while the relationship between Qatar and Belarus was amicable, their bilateral trade figures were lagging behind projections.

He underscored the significance of exchanging trade delegations to deepen ties between the business communities in both countries and ramp up trade and investment. Al-Mansori pointed out that Qatar Chamber and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce had inked cooperation agreements, including one to establish a Qatari Belarusian Joint Business Council.

He emphasized the necessity of activating these agreements to propel cooperation to a higher echelon.

Zubko echoed Al-Mansori's sentiments, reaffirming Belarus’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Qatar. He disclosed that a Belarusian delegation would be making an official visit to Qatar in the first quarter of the upcoming year. This delegation aims to engage with Qatari counterparts to delve into collaboration prospects across multiple sectors, notably technology, food security, timber, and agriculture.

Zubko also highlighted the vast potential for augmenting private-sector collaboration between the two countries in diverse fields, emphasizing the promising investment opportunities awaiting Qatari investors in Belarus.
