Northwest’ll determine outcome of next presidential election – Buhari’s ex-aide

Former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has declared that the Northwest region of Nigeria will be the decisive factor in determining the outcome of the 2027 presidential election. Ahmad urged aspiring presidential candidates for the 2031 election to start building strong relationships with the Northwest.

This statement came in response to a user on social media platform X, who argued that the next Nigerian President should hail from the Northwest. The user pointed out that both late presidents, Musa Yar'adua and Muhammadu Buhari, were from the Northwest, and proposed rallying behind the North East in the 2031 election. Ahmad emphasized that the Northwest remains a powerful political force with a significant voting population and a history of influencing national electoral outcomes.

He advised anyone considering a presidential bid in 2031, regardless of their region, to begin cultivating meaningful connections with the Northwest immediately.
