Tamron has introduced a new compact and lightweight lens, the Tamron 16-50mm F2.8 A (Model B091), designed for APS-C cameras. The lens is available in Sony E-mount, Canon RF mount, Nikon Z mount, and Fujifilm X-mount, offering a focal length range of 24-75mm on Sony, Nikon, and Fujifilm cameras, and 25.6-80mm on Canon cameras due to their 1.6x crop sensor.
The lens is 79.6mm long and weighs only 305 grams, making it Tamron's smallest F2.8 zoom and smaller than their previous 17-70mm F2.8 lens. Priced at $529 / £399 for Sony/Fujifilm and $549 / £419 for Canon/Nikon, the lens features a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range, making it an ideal upgrade from bundled kit lenses.
The aperture uses 7 blades for circular sharpness at all apertures, and the lens boasts a moisture-resistant construction with multiple seals and a fluorine coating on the front element. The Minimum Object Distance is 15cm at 16mm and 29cm at 50mm, with maximum magnification ratios of 1:4.5 and 1:4.8. This allows users to capture close-up subjects while maintaining a wide-angle perspective.
The fast f/2.8 aperture also provides excellent background blur, perfect for portraits. The lens will be available from the end of October for Sony and Fujifilm, November 19 for Nikon, and December 17 for Fujifilm.
