Korea condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi civilian facilities

The Korean foreign ministry denounced recent deadly assaults by Yemen's Houthi rebels against civilian targets in Saudi Arabia, urging an immediate cessation of such acts. These attacks culminated in a series of strikes at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh over the past week, intensifying regional tensions.

On Saturday (local time), the first assault claimed 13 lives and left over 300 individuals injured, according to foreign media accounts. The subsequent strike the following day resulted in a single fatality and 11 wounded, also reported by international media.

In a statement, the Korean foreign ministry vehemently condemned the Houthi rebels' targeting of civilian facilities, particularly the international airport in Riyadh. The ministry reiterated that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are utterly reprehensible and once more called for an immediate end to these hostile actions.

The ministry emphasized that peace and stability in the Middle East are of paramount importance to the international community, including Korea, concerning global supply chains and energy security. The ministry also expressed its deepest sympathies to the victims of these violent attacks.
