I froze at the door: Syrian barber recalls surprise encounter with Cristiano Ronaldo

Dubai: A Syrian barber, Rabie Al Hussein, recounted a remarkable story of meeting football legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Al Hussein was a regular barber when he received an appointment from a mysterious client. The man, who called him at 2pm and 8pm, asked him to bring identification for a haircut appointment. The client’s identity remained unknown.

At 9:15pm, he was escorted to the second floor of a hotel in Sweden. As the door opened, he was stunned to see Ronaldo sitting inside. Al Hussein froze, unable to react. Ronaldo noticed his nervousness and approached him, shaking his hand and embracing him warmly. The football star greeted him with a simple "Hello, my friend. How are you?"

Al Hussein noted Ronaldo's humility and friendly demeanor, which immediately put him at ease. During the haircut conversation, Ronaldo requested a medium fade, deviating from his initial high fade request. Al Hussein also requested a photo after the haircut, to which Ronaldo responded, "Not now, my friend. After the haircut." The barber's most memorable moment came when Ronaldo asked where he was from.

Al Hussein replied he was Syrian, and Ronaldo's response, "Oh, Syria! Then I can trust you!" stood out. Al Hussein described the meeting as remarkable, praising Ronaldo's warmth and humility, which shone brighter than the surprise of meeting one of football's biggest stars.
