HomePod Mini 2 Debuts With Siri AI, Sound Glow and New Colors

Apple unveiled the HomePod mini 2 alongside its HomeView smart home hub, upgraded Apple TV 4K, and Apple Home Collection. The new smart speaker brings Siri AI, a Sound Glow visual feature, support for connecting four speakers, and more color options. Powering Siri AI on the HomePod mini 2 is Apple’s S10 chip. However, Siri AI requires pairing with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.

Apple plans to roll out personalized Siri AI features, recognizing up to six individual users by voice, through a future software update. The new Sound Glow feature transforms the top surface of the HomePod mini 2 into a dynamic digital display that glows and animates in colors derived from the album artwork of the currently playing song.

Users can also create a four-speaker surround sound setup by pairing multiple HomePod mini 2 speakers with the new Apple TV 4K. The speaker can additionally serve as a smart home hub for controlling connected devices. Apple will offer the HomePod mini 2 in five colors – Blue, Green, Pink, Midnight, and White – expanding the range beyond typical neutral tones.

Priced at $149 in the US, pre-orders began through the Apple Store in the US and 23 other countries.
