Children of police personnel receive ₹58.30 lakh in incentive awards
The Bengaluru City Police Commissionerate has awarded ₹58.30 lakh to 274 children of police officers for their academic achievements in the 2025-26 academic year. Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh distributed the awards at an event held at the Commissioner's office on Wednesday.
Notably, 69 students who scored 90% or above in SSLC examinations and 74 students with the same academic record in PU examinations received ₹10,000 each. The remaining 131 beneficiaries were pursuing higher education in various fields like bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes, engineering, law and medicine.
The awards were funded from the Police Welfare Fund to recognize academic excellence among the children of police personnel and encourage them to continue their studies. The incentive amounts varied based on the course chosen. For bachelor’s degree students, the award was ₹20,000, while master’s degree students received ₹30,000. Engineering and LLB students got ₹40,000 each, and medical students were awarded ₹50,000. Students pursuing advanced courses such as MD, MS and MDS also benefited from the scheme.
The initiative aims to support the educational aspirations of police families and motivate their children to excel academically.
