Apple Teams Up With LG for New Smart Cameras, Smart Locks, Temp Sensors, and More

Apple has unveiled the Apple Home Collection, a new line of smart home accessories created in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The collection features four LG cameras, one LG smart lock, two smart thermostats, and two temperature sensors. These devices can be set up with a single tap using an iPhone and managed through the Home app or Siri without the need for separate apps or accounts.

All products support Thread and can automatically update network credentials if the user changes Wi-Fi settings. Four cameras with 2.5K recording capabilities are included, capable of recognizing people, pets, vehicles, and packages. The LG Video Doorbell Wired features a 2.5K front-facing camera, a Full HD lower camera, built-in spotlight, two-way audio, and chime.

The LG Floodlight Cam has adaptive floodlights and low-light color night vision. The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In and Indoor Cam Plug-In offer low-light color night vision and adjustable positioning. The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband technology for automatic unlocking and supports Matter and Aliro. The thermostats, Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Smart Thermostat, utilize Adaptive Temperature and support a range of HVAC systems.

Temperature sensors from the HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini, LG Temperature Sensor, and Schneider Home Room Sensor provide additional climate readings. Apple ensures end-to-end encryption for user data, processing camera footage locally and storing it in iCloud for 10 days. The Apple Home Collection will launch in December, with some products arriving in early 2027, initially available in the US, Canada, and the UK.
