Actress Selma Blair faces charges for kicking nurse and officer after plane incident

Actress Selma Blair has been formally charged with two additional assault counts following an incident aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York. She was taken into custody late Sunday after allegedly assaulting flight attendants. The FBI subsequently issued her a federal summons for assault on board the aircraft. During her court appearance, Blair's attorney, Shawn Barnes, requested the judge to consider her "body of work" and described her as the "gold standard," though the judge refused to grant special treatment.

Blair has pleaded not guilty and was released on bail. She had reportedly experienced a medical emergency, leading to the alleged assaults. Upon landing in New York, airport officials responded to reports of a physically abusive passenger. Two flight attendants were injured; one was hospitalized. Audio from air traffic control revealed a pilot requesting medical assistance, describing Blair as having a bloody nose and bite marks.

The actress, known for her roles in "Legally Blonde" and "Cruel Intentions," was taken to the hospital where she allegedly kicked a police officer and a nurse. Blair's attorney argued that violence is "not who she is," but the judge denied leniency, citing her celebrity status. Her next federal hearing is scheduled for January 19.
