WhatsApp Tests Letting Android Users Schedule Messages

WhatsApp is currently testing the ability for Android users to schedule messages they wish to send. Earlier this year, the feature was first reported for iOS users. Now, it seems Android users are next in line. WABetaInfo, a source, reported that the feature has been spotted on version 2.26.40.7 of WhatsApp for Android among beta testers.

To utilize the feature, users simply type their message as they would normally, then hold the send button instead of tapping it. They can then choose to schedule the message to go out anywhere from 10 minutes to two weeks in the future.

Notably, the current version allows users to schedule messages to individuals rather than just groups. However, messages to groups can only be seen by those who were already members when the sender scheduled the message. New joiners will not see it. Scheduled messages should function like regular messages, allowing users to schedule texts, photos, and videos, one at a time.

Scheduled messages can be edited or deleted within a chat info screen before they are sent. Once scheduled, the message will be delivered even if the device is offline. The feature is currently being rolled out to more users and it's uncertain when it will be made available to the general public.
