Wayne Rooney criticises ‘disrespectful’ Lisandro Martinez after bombshell Man United interview
The former United striker said Martinez had gone ‘too far’ after he challenged the club’s leadership and technical director Jason Wilcox
Wayne Rooney has criticized Lisandro Martinez for his "disrespectful" remarks after the Manchester United defender criticized the club's technical director Jason Wilcox in an interview following a Champions League loss. Martinez expressed frustration with both Wilcox and manager Michael Carrick, believing the squad deserved more investment from the club's board and expressing disappointment with Carrick's leadership.
Rooney, in response, stated that Martinez's comments were unproductive and could hinder the team's progress. Both Rooney and Carrick's former teammate Ashley Young agreed that the players must take responsibility for their performances and that the club needed to invest wisely rather than simply signing new players. Carrick, however, refused to comment on Martinez's remarks, stating he had not seen them and preferring to focus on the upcoming match against Leeds.
