Smart has unveiled its all-electric Smart #2 at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, reintroducing the compact two-seater as an electric vehicle. The new model maintains the original Smart Fortwo's small footprint, now equipped with an electric platform, updated cabin technology, and a suite of driver assistance features. First teased last year, the EV was later revealed through a Chinese regulatory filing, offering a closer look at its design.
The Smart #2 measures 2,746mm in length, retaining the iconic wheels-at-the-corners layout to maximize cabin space. Its exterior features a two-tone design, a modern floating roof, and the signature split tailgate. The interior includes bench-style seating and an S-shaped cockpit, featuring a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, an 8.8-inch driver display, and connectivity options such as 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
The car utilizes a Tridion Cell Evo safety structure, which balances occupant protection with its compact dimensions. Driver assistance features include Pilot Assist, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and Highway Assist. Powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 60kW (approximately 82PS) and 130Nm of torque, the Smart #2 is built on the new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform.
It is equipped with a 35.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a WLTP range of up to 290km, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in around 20 minutes under optimal conditions via DC fast charging. The car supports AC charging up to 11kW, depending on the variant. The Smart #2 will be available in Europe in Pure, Pure+, Premium, and a limited Couture Edition.
The Pure variant includes LED headlights and taillights with automatic high beams, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, and driver assistance systems. The Pure+ adds 11kW AC charging and heated driver's seat, while the Premium offers a glass roof, heated seats for both occupants, and a seven-speaker Sennheiser sound system. The Couture Edition, limited to 999 units, features a matte white exterior, gold detailing, and equipment similar to the Premium trim, such as a glass roof, ambient lighting, and wireless charging.
The Smart #2 starts at EUR19,990 for the Pure trim, with prices increasing to EUR20,990 for the Pure+, EUR24,490 for the Premium, and EUR25,690 for the Couture Edition. The all-electric two-seater's availability in Malaysia has not been confirmed.
