Shams Mulani remains focused on earning a call-up to the Indian team despite years of consistent performances in domestic cricket, as Mumbai secured a commanding innings victory over Chandigarh in their Ranji Trophy opener. Mulani, who has been performing well for India A against Australia A, emphasized that representing Mumbai remains his biggest motivation, despite disappointment over missing out on national selection.
The all-rounder stated that he will keep working hard and performing for Mumbai, as his job is to continue playing for the team. Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad praised the team's victory, crediting the strong bowling line-up, particularly Tushar Deshpande's impressive performance, which resulted in seven wickets. However, Mumbai faces concerns over Ayush Mhatre's hamstring injury, which could keep him out of the next two matches for at least a month.
Lad assured that Mumbai has adequate replacements to cover for any players going for international duties.
