Pemimpin DAP hairan dakwaan PKR mahu tanding di Ayer Keroh

A DAP leader in Melaka is perplexed by PKR's claim to the Ayer Keroh seat, a stronghold traditionally held by the DAP. Kerk Chee Yee, who once served as the assemblyman for Ayer Keroh from 2018 to the recent dissolution of the legislature, expressed confusion over the PKR leader's statement, stating that he is unaware of the motives behind it. Ayer Keroh is one of the eight seats allocated to DAP for the upcoming state elections in Melaka, pending the announcement of candidates.

Kerk urged all parties within the PH coalition to keep their seat arrangements and "wishlist" confidential, as there are more pressing issues that should be discussed publicly. PKR's Azman Abidin revealed that the party aims to secure eight to nine seats in Melaka, including Ayer Keroh. It has been speculated that Azman, the chief of PKR in the federal territories, might represent Paya Rumput.

Azman confirmed that Ayer Keroh is among the seats PKR is targeting, although he hinted at potential changes. The DAP successfully took Ayer Keroh from Barisan Nasional in 2008, with Kerk serving as the assemblyman until the legislative body was dissolved. Kerk won the seat in the 2021 Melaka polls, securing a 5,624-vote majority over candidates from Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional.
