The Minister of Education has ordered the immediate suspension of Obuasi Senior High Technical School headmaster Zakaria Abdulai, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a female student, according to a JoyNews and Manasseh Azure Awuni investigation. The Ministry of Education issued a statement confirming the directive, which came after the Ministry and the Ghana Education Service (GES) stated that such misconduct would not be tolerated in educational institutions.
The Minister has also requested the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to commence investigations into the allegations. The Ministry emphasized that the suspension aims to allow for a thorough investigation into the allegations, and stressed that parents and guardians entrust their children to teachers who should protect and safeguard them rather than abuse them.
