Lelaki Muslim didakwa buat ritual agama lain ditahan

A 21-year-old Muslim male, believed to have performed an act of worship or ritual contrary to Islam, and his 52-year-old mother were arrested today at the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) in Kuala Lumpur around noon. The arrest was carried out using a warrant issued by the Lower Syariah Court Shah Alam and enforced by Jawi.

Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department director, said the suspects are now being questioned by Jais in accordance with Section 4 and 10 of the Syariah Offences Act (Selangor) 1995. Jais is expected to call for at least 14 other individuals to assist with the investigation, according to Kosmo. Shahzihan stated that his department takes the matter seriously and will ensure that all actions are taken within the scope of power, law, and facts of the case.

He advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information. Previously, social media was flooded with posts regarding the action of an individual of the Islamic faith believed to have performed an act contrary to Islamic law, which was considered a breach of Shariah law, and Islam being disgraced. On October 10, Jais stated in a statement that they conducted an investigation based on Sections 4 and 10 of the Syariah Offences Act (Selangor) 1995, involving an offense of acts showing worship in any manner that breaches Islamic law and an offense causing Islam to be disgraced.
