Gemini app rolling out Gemini 4 Argon to AI Pro and AI Ultra

Google is expanding access to its advanced Gemini 4 Argon AI model within the Gemini app, now available for both Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. This comes after an earlier limited rollout exclusive to the AI Ultra ($99.99+) tier. Users can expect enhanced reasoning capabilities and improved performance across complex workflows with Gemini 4 Argon.

Notably, the app now allows seamless switching between chatting and coding, with users gaining direct access to Antigravity's agentic coding interface for app and web development. The Gemini app will also introduce a toggle to switch from chat to task mode (previously called Spark). As of the current update, AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers can select among 3.5 Flash-Lite, 3.8 Flash, 3.1 Pro, and the new 4 Argon models in the model picker.

AI Ultra subscribers can also utilize Gemini 4 Argon in AI Mode. Additionally, the Antigravity desktop app and CLI now require AI Ultra to access the new model. Google has demonstrated the utility of Argon through its internal Antigravity implementation across various platforms like Chrome, Gemma, and YouTube. The AI Ultra model is also a prerequisite for Argon access in AI Studio and Android Studio (Canary).

In terms of pricing, Google is offering the Gemini API access to Argon at a discounted rate of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens until November 30, 2026. Post that, the rates will increase to $4 per 1M input tokens and $20 per 1M output tokens. Google is also offering 10,000 scientists free access to the highest usage tier in Google Antigravity for a period of 6 months. Applications for this program are now open.
