Google rolls out Gemini 4 Argon globally via the Gemini API and to Google AI Pro subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode, and in Antigravity for Ultra users (Robert Hart/The Verge)

Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Argon, its latest frontier AI model, making it available globally via the Gemini API and to premium subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode. The company claims Argon competes with the industry's best, outperforming rivals such as GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5.5 across various benchmarks, including coding, cybersecurity, science, finance, and law.

Initially launched to internal teams for tasks like cybersecurity vulnerability detection and YouTube comments optimization, Argon will now be accessible to Google's Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app and AI Mode, as well as Ultra subscribers using the Antigravity development platform. Priced competitively at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, Argon is significantly cheaper than its rivals, even after a temporary price increase at the end of November.

This launch comes shortly after Meta announced its own frontier model, Muse Wonder Full, demonstrating the rapid pace of AI development and the potential for shifts in the AI landscape.
