Abia partners LaLiga to empower youths through sports

The Abia State Government in Nigeria has formed a partnership with LaLiga and the Spanish Embassy to host "LaLiga Week in Abia State" between November and December. This initiative aims to engage local youth through sports activities and activations, providing them with opportunities to build skills and open up global prospects.

As part of the partnership, the Abia State Ministry of Youths and Sports recently visited correctional centers in Aba and Umuahia to assess legal, health, and welfare needs, identifying cases requiring legal aid, board assistance, and medical support for 20 inmates preparing for pre-school, non-residential certificate exams. Additionally, the state will distribute 3,003,250 mosquito nets during the 2026 Abia Mass Insecticide-Treated Net Campaign, highlighting the government's commitment to public health.
