Trump weighs firing US ambassador to Greece

President Donald Trump has indicated that his administration is contemplating removing US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has faced scrutiny over a series of controversial revelations. Guilfoyle, who was once engaged to the President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has been under intense pressure following a series of damaging reports.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Guilfoyle reportedly asked her personal connection, Eric Deters, to cover a $100,000 credit card debt, with the request sent via text in July 2025. Deters, a supporter of Trump, declined to make the payment, stating that it would cause him significant personal hardship.

The scandal took prominence as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was visiting Europe, including Greece, highlighting the ambassador's lavish lifestyle. Guilfoyle, who had flown on private jets to attend events, including a $100,000 bill at a luxury Swiss resort, had also hosted lavish trips for Greek businessmen.

In the midst of these revelations, Guilfoyle was quoted as expressing frustration over being left off a guest list at a high-profile event in Davos, where she and Tsakos stayed in the Four Seasons Hotel George V for a week, with Tsakos covering the costs.

Further allegations of conflicts of interest involving Guilfoyle have also been reported by American media, with the former Fox News host previously married to California's Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom.
