Tar Heel duo shines in Week 5 NFL action
Drake Maye and Devontez Walker formed an electric offensive duo at UNC in 2023. Both Tar Heels helped their NFL teams to big wins on Sunday.
North Carolina football stars Drake Maye and Devontez Walker had standout performances in Week 5 of the 2026 NFL season. Maye, the 2023 ACC's Second-Team All-ACC quarterback, led the New England Patriots to a 45-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, tallying five touchdowns. Walker, who had played limited minutes for Kent State before transferring, caught the Ravens' final touchdown in a 30-23 win against the Atlanta Falcons.
After a sluggish start to the 2026-27 NFL campaign, Maye delivered another strong showing, completing 26 of 34 passes for 374 yards and 4 touchdowns, while adding 25 rushing yards and another score on 7 carries. Walker, while limited in the passing game, excelled with a crucial 7-yard touchdown catch. Both players have since moved on to new teams, but their contributions to their respective victories highlight their continued success at the NFL level.
