MTN Ghana urges SMEs to turn Mini MBA lessons into business growth

MTN Ghana's Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Angela Mensah-Poku, has called on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to apply the knowledge gained from the MTN NOVA Business School Mini MBA programme to enhance their operations, generate employment, and foster sustainable businesses. At the programme's graduation ceremony, Mensah-Poku emphasized that the success of SME support initiatives should be evaluated not only by the technology and services offered but also by the growth of the supported businesses.

She highlighted the importance of SMEs in driving economic activity, stating that when SMEs succeed, communities benefit and industries flourish.

Mensah-Poku encouraged graduates to implement the lessons learned, share the knowledge with their teams, create jobs, and mentor other entrepreneurs. She urged them to translate their learning into practical results and continue contributing to the strength of the private sector. The 13-week Mini MBA programme is part of MTN Ghana's wider SME Accelerate initiative, which includes business management training, digital solutions, and post-training support to help entrepreneurs strengthen their operations.

Mohamed Abubakar Siddiq, Senior Manager for SME Sales, Business Partnership, and Fibre Broadband at MTN Ghana, explained that the Mini MBA targets gaps identified through SME clinics, providing more extensive training in strategic financing, business sustainability, bookkeeping, and digitalisation.

In addition to the training, MTN Ghana will monitor graduates after the programme to ensure they apply the acquired knowledge effectively. The annual Mini MBA graduation marks the beginning of a new phase of business improvement for participants, who are encouraged to implement their learning and share it within their organizations.

One graduate, Nana Abenaa Oforiwa Kwao-Adotey, founder of an eco-friendly beauty and personal care brand, shared how the training improved her financial management, digital marketing, and team building. She highlighted the importance of accurate financial records for informed decision-making and expressed that her business was already experiencing growth in key areas as a result of the programme.
