KKM segerakan pengambilan, perkukuh usaha kekalkan jururawat

The Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) is accelerating the recruitment of new medical personnel and strengthening efforts to retain existing staff to prevent medical talent from fleeing the country. Speaking to reporters after launching the National Heart Health 2026-2030 Initiative at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's Tuanku Muhriz Hospital, Minister of Health Dzulkefly Ahmad emphasized the importance of ensuring the competitiveness of the public medical services and maintaining the well-being of medical personnel.

Among the measures implemented, the minister highlighted an increase in salaries through the Public Services Remuneration System (SSPA) and incentives based on qualifications, including a raise in the Basic Basic Health Service Fee from RM100 to RM200 per month. The KKM also aims to maintain working hours of 42 hours per week for on-call medical personnel while expanding training opportunities and promoting career advancement, as well as providing flexibility in placement through the voluntary transfer system.

Furthermore, medical staff have benefited the most from the exchange scheme, and the recruitment process has been expedited to fill vacant positions. Unlike in the past, where medical personnel were hired on contract, all new hires are now offered permanent positions. The KKM is also working to expedite the absorption of contract pharmacists into permanent roles in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.

As of July, Dzulkefly reported that 3,545 contract pharmacists were still serving the KKM, while 115 others were on standby lists or awaiting permanent appointments. The minister hopes that this process can be accelerated to allow pharmacists to be integrated into permanent services.
