‘Anything is possible’: Matric’s dream comes true as Blxckie attends her dance
Here's how Mimi's months-long campaign for her matric dance with Blvckie paid off.
Mimi, a matric learner at Queen's Park High School, had a dream come true when Hip-Hop artist Blxckie, also known as Sihle Sithole, attended her matric dance. The day had not yet sunk in for the 18-year-old, who had been campaigning for weeks to make the event happen. Mimi's interest in Blxckie began when her sister convinced her to attend one of his concerts in 2024.
She left the show a fan, and her connection to his music deepened over time. Mimi's love for his music stemmed from its ability to provide a sense of hope. Blxckie's team contacted her about two weeks before the dance to confirm his availability. After a Zoom call to discuss logistics, Mimi shared her excitement with close friends and family.
On the day of the dance, she met Blxckie at an apartment arranged by her sister. Mimi expressed gratitude for the experience, crediting her friends and family for their support. Blxckie also thanked various brands for their contributions to the special day.
