Wake Forest Demon Deacons basketball prepares for the 2026-27 season, with head coach Steve Forbes navigating a team with significant changes. The Demon Deacons, led by Forbes, have struggled with only one starter returning from last year and a transfer class consisting of eight players. Six of those transfers are expected to make a substantial impact, including Jamari McDowell, Justin Ray, and Kennedy.
McDowell, a 6-4 guard, will miss several weeks due to plantar fasciitis, while Kennedy, a freshman transfer, had a standout junior year at Merrimack. The Placide twins, Gavin and Gallagher, are the top recruits in Forbes' class, both four-star prospects. The Demon Deacons' depth will be bolstered by Anson Beard Jr., Will Underwood, Vincent Ricchiuti, Xander Pintelon, Ring Nyeri, Justin Abson, and Antonio Dorn.
Forbes projects the team to be competitive, with the Placide twins serving as key contributors at the forward positions.
